Toddler Indoor activity space for infants shall be physically separate from space used by children in the child care center.
All indoor passageways, stairways, open porches and other areas of potential hazard were observed to be free of obstruction. The childcare center was observed be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of children, employees and visitors. Floors of all rooms have a surface that is safe and clean.
Furniture and equipment were observed to be maintained in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Tables and chairs were observed to meet the needs of the children. All play equipment and materials used by children were observed to be age appropriate. LPA and LPM observed individual permanent or portable storage space for children’s clothing, personal belongings and/or bedding in the hallway leading to classrooms. All materials and surfaces accessible to children, including toys, were observed to be free of toxic substances.
Drinking water from a noncontaminating fixture or container shall be readily available both indoors and in the outdoor activity area. LPA advised per Health and Safety Code 1597.16(a)(1) Lead Testing and PIN-21-21-CCP Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test.
Per Written Directive 100700(c)(1) Written Directives for Lead Testing (1) For a license issued on or after July 1, 2022, initial testing results shall be received and posted within 180 days of licensure.
The licensee shall take measures to keep the center free of flies, other insects, and rodents. LPA and LPM observed containers used for storage of solid waste, including moveable bins, have a tightfitting cover that is kept on; in good repair; leakproof and rodent-proof. LPA and LPM did not observe any fireplaces or open-faced heaters accessible to children in care.
Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and poisons were observed to be inaccessible with the use of child proof latches on all cabinets.
