Residents are not getting adequate food service

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gary Tan conducted an unannounced subsequent complaint visit at this facility to further investigate the above allegations. LPA met with Memory Care Director Rhonda Bunnin and explained the reason for the visit.

LPA conducted physical plant tour at around 9:30 AM, requested facility documents relevant to the investigation at 10:00 AM and interviewed residents and between 10:15 AM to 1:30 PM.

Regarding the allegation that residents are not getting adequate food service, it was alleged that the facility have not had a chef for months. LPA's interview with then ED Stephanie Funderberg on 08/04/21 at around 11:00 AM, revealed that while the facility did not have own chef for about a month, other chef from other Oakmont location (i.e., Oakmont of Santa Clarita, Oakmont of Camarillo) and the company's regional chef comes to the facility four (4) times a week to manage the kitchen and a new chef was hired and started on 08/03/21. LPA record review today at 12:35 PM confirmed that the current chef started on 08/02/21. (continued on LIC 9099-C)

LPA's interview with eleven (11) residents or more than 10% of current census today between 10:15 AM to 1:30 PM revealed that ten (10) out of eleven (11) residents believe that the food at the facility are adequate and of good quality.

Based on the information gathered during this and prior visits, the allegation is deemed unsubstantiated at this time.
