25 | On March 28, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kris Diaz, conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection. LPA met with Licensee, Sindy Corona who guided LPA on a tour of the home. People who reside in the home are the Licensee, her spouse, her adult daughter who are live scanned and have TB skin test on file and their minor child (17). The large family childcare home operates 24 hours, Monday-Friday. Per licensee, there are currently no children in care that require overnight care. LPA reminded licensee that someone should be awake when the children are awake. Upon arrival, LPA observed 9 daycare children in care with the licensee and 3 assistants. Licensee stated she cares for a child that requires insulin administration. LPA discussed Incidental Medical Services with the Licensee and informed her that I will provide information so she can submit IMS plan to the department.
This is a two-story home with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, laundry room, downstairs bedroom converted to childcare room and outside play area, and garage. Children have access to the childcare room, the restroom next to the garage, and the outside play area on the side of the home. The off-limits areas of the facility include the entire upstairs made inaccessible with a safety gate, laundry room, living room, kitchen, backyard, and garage. Per licensee, children are trained to not cross the threshold that leads to the kitchen. LPA observed the children comply with this rule. Children and parents enter the facility through a side gate that only gives access to the childcare area.
There is a swimming pool on the premises. The backyard is made inaccessible with a wood gate and play structure that blocks the entrance to the backyard from the outside play area and contains a lock on the gate. The pool is surrounded by a mesh gate that has a self-closing, self-latching mechanism with a key lock. The kitchen is made inaccessible by a sliding door that has a key lock. The sliding door that leads to the backyard has double locks to ensure inaccessibility to the backyard.
The home was inspected inside for comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation. Medications are stored in the kitchen inaccessible to children.
