25 | On July 31, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kris Diaz, conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection. LPA met with Licensee, Ana Valdez who granted access and guided LPA on a tour of the home. People who reside in the home are the Licensee and her spouse who are live scanned and have TB skin test on file and their minor child (1). The large family childcare home operates Monday through Friday, 6:30a-4:30p. At the time of the visit there were 6 children present with 2 staff members.
This is a one-story home with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, office, laundry room, and garage. Children have access to the living room and bathroom to the left upon entry to the facility. Off-limit areas of the home are the bedrooms, master bathroom, laundry room, office, and backyard. Off-limits areas are made inaccessible by safety knobs on doors and safety gates. LPA observed a whiteboard covering the fireplace. Per licensee, children do not move the whiteboard. LPA advised licensee to make the fireplace inaccessible. There is not a swimming pool/body of water on the premises. LPA observed a cat in the office kept inaccessible with a safety gate. Per licensee, there is also a dog that is with the licensee’s spouse during the day.
The home was inspected inside for comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating, and ventilation. Medications are stored in an upper kitchen cabinet inaccessible to children. The kitchen knives are stored in a lower kitchen drawer inaccessible to children. Cleaning compounds are store under the kitchen sink inaccessible to children.
The First Aid kit is located in the hallway cabinet near the restroom. Per licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. LPA did not observe any weapons or firearms. Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are in operable condition. The Fire Extinguisher is green, fully charged, and meets the standards of the State Fire Marshal. LPA observed a receipt from 8/23. The licensee’s Pediatric CPR/First Aid expires on 2/18/25.
