heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents/cleaning compounds, medicines and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. The smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector are in operable condition (tested at 3:24 P.M.). The facility has a 2-A:10-B:C type of fire extinguisher. Licensee stated that she does not own firearms, and no one smokes in the facility. The kitchen is off-limits, and it has child safety wooden baby gate. LPA observed cleaning products stored inside the lower kitchen cabinets under the sink. Knives are stored in the upper shelves of the kitchen pantry. LPA also observed household medications stored in the hallway cabinets. Per licensee, no medications are provided to children in care. Licensee provides meals and snacks to children in care.
The facility is a one-story house. There is a fireplace in the facility, and it has glass door and mesh screen. The fireplace is also blocked by an iron fence. The home has central heating and air conditioning units.
The fire/earthquake drills were conducted today, November 20, 2025, at 4:00 P.M. Licensee was advised to conduct fire and disaster drill at least once every 6 months.
LPA observed safe and age-appropriate toys, small tables and chairs, diaper changing table, highchairs, kitchen set toy, cash register toy, toy cars, blocks, puzzles, books, television, and other toys in the facility. LPA observed 9 sleeping cots and 1 crib in bedroom #1 of the facility. Licensee has first aid kit stored inside the hallway cabinets. Electrical outlets are covered with safety plugs.
The licensee was advised that baby bouncers, saucer chairs, or any recalled and or banned toys or sleep/ play equipment are prohibited on the premises. Licensee is advised to check for fixture, furniture and equipment that have been banned or recalled by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Bathroom: Toilet, sink and faucet were clean and operable. LPA did not observe razors and/or sharp objects, shampoos, mouthwash, medications, perfumes, air freshener, nail polish and nail remover that will pose a health and safety risk to children in care. LPA observed a trash bin in the bathroom. LPA observed tissue paper inside the bathroom cabinets and cabinets have child safety lock.
Licensee stated that when a child shows signs of illness, the child is separated from other children in the living room of the facility. The parents are then called to pick up their children. |
