On 3/20/2025 at 1::20 p.m. LPA Isabel Ortega conducted a Case Management inspection as Licensee is requesting to increase capacity from a Small Family Childcare home of 8 children to a Large Family Childcare Home with a capacity up to 14 children. LPA announced the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry by Licensee. A tour of the facility was completed. Upon arrival LPA observed five children in care and two staff providing care and supervision.

Licensee was initially licensed on 12/26/2023 as a Small Family Childcare Home. The Fire Department has inspected the facility and granted a fire clearance for 14 children on 03/10/2025.

Family Childcare Home operates Monday through Friday from 8 :30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The facility provides children enrolled with breakfast, morning snacks, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner as needed.

This is a single story with 5 bedrooms, two restrooms, a family room and an attached garage. Main care is provided in bedroom #1 and family room referred to as the childcare area. Children utilize the restroom located in the middle of the hallway next to room #1.

The off limits area are bedroom #2,#3,#4 and #5, one restroom in the master bedroom, the garage, back yard with pool and the kitchen.
The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. Per the licensee there are no weapons or firearms at the facility, nor did the LPA observe any weapons during inspection. LPA observed cots for napping.

The front yard is utilized by the children for outdoor play and the yard is enclosed and fenced all around. The outdoor play area was inspected and play equipment was observed to be free of hazards, loose and sharp parts. LPA observed age-appropriate toys both inside and outside of the home.

The facility’s fire extinguisher (2A10BC) is reading in green (purchased within one year(receipt observed). Licensee has a smoke and carbon monoxide detector found them to be in operating condition. The facility's annual fees are current. The parent board was reviewed and had all the required forms posted and visible to parents.

Licensee is reminded with a capacity increase she must have a qualified assistant present whenever she has more than 8 children in care. Licensee was provided with a capacity and ratio handout pertaining to large Family Child Care Homes and the various age groups that can be under care at one given time.

The facility annual fees are current. The parent board was reviewed and had all the required forms posted and accessible to parents.

The ground pool has a metal/iron fence measuring 5 feet in height. The gate is self latching. There is a water motion sensor alarm in the pool and LPA observed a 17' life ring by the US coast Guard hanging by the fence.

Licensee is aware the safety emergency swimming pole with hook does not meet the January 2025 requirements. Licensee has a pole with hook extension starting 8 feet to 15 feet, Pole must begin at 12 feet without the extensions.

Fire clearance was granted 3/10/2025, therefore, a Large Family Childcare Home License with a capacity of 14 children has request for department approval once Licensee submits proof of the 12 feet emergency safety pole without extension.

An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report, appeal and notice of site visit was provided to Licensee on this day. All Licensing reports are recommended to be kept on file for a minimum of three years.
