32 | The home has a clean and fully stocked clean refrigerator/freezer. Breakfast, lunch, snacks are provided by the licensee. Licensee is not a participant in a food program. Sharp knives were observed to be stored in a kitchen drawer with a safety latch and made inaccessible to the children. Cleaning supplies were observed to be kept under the kitchen sink secured with a safety latch and made inaccessible to the children. Licensee is advised food brought from the children’s home shall be properly stored, labeled, and dated.
LPA Garcia asked the licensee if there were any pets, poisons, firearms, or weapons. The licensee stated that there are no pets, no poisons, no firearms, and no weapons. LPA did not observe pets, no poisons, no firearms or weapons. The licensee was informed that if any poisons (ex; Drano, rat poison or items that fall into that category), firearms and weapons are purchased, it is required to be locked with a key or combination lock, and firearm and ammunition must be stored separately.
The dual smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector are in operable condition, and was tested by the licensee and LPA Garcia heard the sounds and are operable. LPA observed the required fire extinguisher (2A10BC) is fully charged. The facility sketch is complete and current; there is working telephone (cell). Fire/Disaster Drills document are maintained current and was last conducted on 12/8/25.
Children play in the back yard. The backyard is surrounded by 3 property walls and is fully enclosed (vinyl fence and concrete brick). The gates are secured with high hinge lock. The play area is clear and clean of debris, play area is fenced and gated all around, play yard has artificial grass and cement for play time. There is climbing equipment that is placed on artificial turf and provides some cushioning to minimize injuries. LPA observed age-appropriate toys for children. LPAs did not observe any hazards, sharp or loose pointed parts.
First Aid kit was observed with supplies (thermometer) readily available and kept in the kitchen cabinet. Licensee has a valid CPR/First Aid certification from American Heart Association dated 11/22/25, and Mandated Reporter is current and dated 3/1/26, Health and safety certification dated 9/18/21. Licensee is reminded First Aid/CPR and Mandated Reporter must be renewed every two years. Review of records to be maintained: LPA reviewed with licensee the LIC 311D, Forms/Records To Keep In Your Family Child Care Homes, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. For ill isolation, licensee stated the children wait in the nap room until parents pick up the child. The last disaster drill was conducted on 1/20/26. LPA observed facility roster completed.
LPA observed proof of immunizations for licensee against Pertussis, Measles, TB and Influenza. Licensee was advised that the mandated reporter training must be completed every 2 years, and is available at www.mandatedreporterca.com
