25 | On 01/09/2025 at 2:30PM Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Justeene Tamayo, Hanna Cha, and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Mariela Ramon met with Director Rosa Ayala Lopez for the purpose to inspect and measure the outdoor infant and toddler play yard. Upon arrival, there were zero day care children present, the facility was not operating at the time of inspection. The toddler component previously had an approved waiver to share the preschool play yard with preschoolers at alternating times.
During this case management inspection, LPAs and LPM measured the outdoor areas designated for the infant and toddler play yards. The facility is licensed for 26 infants and 26 toddlers, with infants using rooms #1-2 and toddlers using rooms #3-4.
The infant play yard was measured to determine its capacity for infants. The infant play yard is located adjacent to the toddler play yard. The infant play yard is fully enclosed by a brown plastic fencing that surrounds the entire perimeter. LPAs and LPM observed various age-appropriate equipment, including a covered sandbox, chairs, outdoor dome seats, two small swings, and additional play equipment. Rubber cushioning material covers the entire play area for safety. A large tree provides shade to the area. The Director stated that infants will use their personal water bottles to stay hydrated. LPAs also observed a trash can with a tight-fitting lid.
The outdoor play area was measured as follows:
Infant Outdoor activity area measurements:
Total outdoor activity space: 10326.78 divided by 75 = 17 infants
A waiver will be needed to accommodate 26 infants. Director will submit a waiver request including an alternating outdoor schedule to meet Title 22 outdoor regulations.
