25 | On October 18, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Annelise Villa arrived at the facility for a case management visit. Present at the visit were Christian Brebu, Environmental Health Specialist, Dr. Rosita San Diego and Angela Vidal-Sanga from the District Public Health Nurse and Joyce Hart, Director. The purpose of the visit was to follow up on an Unusual Incident reported by the facility via telephone on October 14, 2024. The report indicated a recent outbreak of an unknown illness at the facility.
During the visit, LPA Villa conducted a census of the children present and discussed the details of the outbreak. Description of Incident:
The outbreak involved 31 children experiencing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea between October 7, 2024 through October 17, 2024, across multiple classrooms.
On October 7, child #1 showed signs of vomiting.
On October 8, children #2 and #3 exhibited vomiting.
On October 9, children #4, #5, and #6 reported stomachaches, fever, gagging, and vomiting.
On October 10, children #7 and 8 exhibited vomiting.
On October 11, children #10 through #16 experienced stomachaches, upset stomachs, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Staff members #1, #2, and #3 also reported similar symptoms.
On October 12, Staff #4 showed signs of vomiting and an upset stomach.
On October 13, children #17 and #18 experienced diarrhea.
On October 14, children #19 and #20 and Staff #5 reported symptoms of stomachache, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
