32 | On 11/5/2020, Investigation consisted of the following: LPA Brown interviewed Residents #5-7 (R5-7) and Staff #4-6. LPA Brown virtually toured the facility and observed at least a one-week supply of nonperishable and two-day supply of perishable foods.
On 11/6/2020, Investigation consisted of the following: LPA interviewed Residents #8-10 (R8-10) and Staff #7-8. LPA asked pertinent questions regarding all the allegations of this complaint.
The investigation revealed the following for allegations:
Facility staff handled resident in a rough manner
Facility staff failed to return resident's personal belongings
Facility overcharged resident.
Resident was threatened with illegal eviction
Resident did not have required linens on his bed
Based on interviews with resident and staff, there does not appear to be an issue with clients staff handling residents in a rough manner or failing to return resident’s personal belongings.
Based on interviews with residents and staff, the facility is providing proper food service. The residents who were interviewed were generally content with the food that has been served to them. According to interviews, residents have not been overcharged for any service at the facility. R9 was told that he may be evicted because R9 was behind on rent payments and had been inconsistent with paying it. Also, according to interviews residents are always supplied with the required linens for their beds. All shifts have access to the linen and bedsheets just in case there are accidents. All staff are responsible for ensuring that the beds and residents are properly cared for.
Based on LPA Brown observations, the records that were reviewed, facility menu, and the interviews that were conducted by LPA Brown and LPA Williams, although the allegations may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation(s) did or did not occur, therefore the allegations are unsubstantiated.
A telephonic exit interview was conducted with Administrator Beatrice Romeo, and a hard copy was provided via email for signature. |
