25 | On 09/04/26, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Diana Ortiz conducted an unannounced POC (Plan of Correction) inspection to ensure that the five (5) Type B deficiencies cited on 08/06/26 have been cleared. LPA met with Licensee, Catherine Mistone, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. LPA obtained a census of eight (8) children in care and tow (2) assistants. Per Licensee, there are currently 11 children enrolled.
On 08/06/26, LPA issued five (5) Type B deficiencies for the facility’s failure to comply with pool safety requirements and fire safety requirements related to the required 2A:10BC fire extinguisher. During the initial inspection, LPA did not observe a life ring with a minimum diameter of 17 inches, a rescue pole equipped with a body hook and a minimum fixed length of 12 feet, or a functioning pool alarm. LPA also did not observe a daily pool safety inspection log or a key lock on the pool gate door. Additionally, LPA did not observe a fire extinguisher with a minimum rating of 2A:10BC as required. A Plan of Correction (POC) was discussed with the facility representative, with a due date of 08/20/26.
During today’s inspection, LPA observed a life ring with a minimum diameter of 17 inches and a rescue pole equipped with a body hook and a minimum fixed length of 12 feet. LPA also observed a functioning pool alarm, which was tested during today’s inspection and found to be operational. Additionally, LPA observed a key lock on the pool gate door and a 2A10BC fire extinguisher with a purchase receipt dated 09/02/26.
The facility has corrected the observed deficiencies related to the life ring, rescue pole, pool alarm, pool gate lock, and required fire extinguisher.
LPA verified that the previously cited deficiencies have been corrected and cleared on this date. Plan of Correction (POC) clearance letters were issued to the licensee during today's visit.
During this inspection, the licensee was found to be in compliance with California Code of Regulations, Title 22. Therefore, no deficiencies are being cited.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
