32 | All floors are clean and safe. Storage for children's belongings were inspected. Napping equipment (mats/cots) and bedding were inspected in the “HeadStart Classroom” for good condition, appropriate storage, and cleanliness. Children take their blankets and sheets home to wash weekly. Classroom #36 has a resting area in the quite corner of the classroom. All toilets and washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions for each program. First Aid supplies are available and complete. Drinking water was readily available indoors and outdoors. The facility has a gallons of water and paper cups for children to drink freely. Children also bring sports bottle from home. At this time, there is a cozy corner designated as the isolation area for ill children to rest and the adult restroom will be used if needed.
Licensing staff observed all required forms/publications to be posted by the front entrance. Food menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted one week in advance where it is visible by the child's authorized representative. Menus for the past 30 days are available upon request. The facility provides breakfast, lunch and snack for the full day program in HeadStart Classroom. Breakfast and Lunch is provided for the Headstart program in Classroom #36 and Lunch is provided for the Preschool Program in Classroom #36. All meals are prepared by the cafeteria at Fairgrove Academy. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects, and rodents.
Licensing staff observed the valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was serviced on 07/10/2025, as indicated on service tag. Per State Fire Marshall standards, fire extinguishers shall be serviced annually. Facility has functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detector that meets statutory requirements. The supervisor states there are no weapons, firearms, or bodies of water on the premises. The last Disaster drills was conducted on 10/16/2025. Reminded director disaster drills must be conducted at least every six months.
At 9:55am, licensing staff inspected the outdoor play area. The playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade and the play yard is surrounded by a chain link fence. Program use the play yard on a staggered schedule from 8:55am-9:45am Page 2 of 4
