25 | On Wednesday February 19, 2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joanne Solorio Campos conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with licensee, Violeta Vargas who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Inspection was conducted in Spanish. At time of inspection, LPA did not observe any children in care. Per licensee, children are home sick. Total children enrolled are 3. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 6AM to 7PM and licensee cares for children ages 0-13yrs old.
This is a one-story home part of a two-story house, where licensee resides in the first floor of the house. The home consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, dining room and living room and a completely fenced back yard and front yard. The children have access to the bathroom, living room, dining room, one bedroom and the backyard. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: 1 bedroom, which was observed to be locked. Family members residing in the home are 2 adults (criminal record clearances on file). The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit.
LPA inspected the facility for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation and working phone (cell phone and landline). For ventilation, LPA observed ceiling fans and windows. LPA observed an electrical fireplace in the living room which is made inaccessible to the children. At time of inspection, LPA observed the furniture, children’s manipulatives, games, and books, to be age appropriate and well maintained free of loose, sharp or pointed parts.
LPA observed cleaning compounds items, stored underneath the kitchen sink, and observed an operable childproof lock in place, making it inaccessible for children to open. LPA observed the knives and sharp objects stored inside the top kitchen cabinet with a childproof lock making it inaccessible for children to open.
The licensee stated the facility provides breakfast, lunch, and am and pm snack by utilizing a food program. LPA informed licensee any food brought from the children's homes, the container shall be labeled with the child's name and properly stored or refrigerated. For water drinking, licensee stated she provides water.
Licensee stated she currently does not have any children with severe food allergies nor on medication.
