32 | The day care room to the left also has a changing table and a first aid kit. LPA then proceeded and toured the second day care room to the right of the kitchen and observed 5 children either napping on mats or waking up from their nap. LPA observed that both day care rooms have age-appropriate toys, materials, and equipment for children. The children’s bathroom is located in the second day care room and observed it safe and in sanitary conditions.
At 04:06 p.m., smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were observed to be operable. The valve on the required 2A10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was purchased on 01/27/26, per the attached receipt. Per State Fire Marshall standards, fire extinguishers shall be serviced annually.
LPA observed the following required posted documentation in the living room: Facility License, Publication (PUB) 394- Notification of Parent Rights and Licensing Form (LIC) 9148- Earthquake Preparedness form, LIC 610- Emergency Disaster Plan and PUB 269 California Child Passenger Safety Law. All homes shall conduct fire and disaster drills at least once every six months and document the date and time of each drill. Last drill conducted was on 05/26/26. Children’s roster was available for review during the inspection.
Per licensee, food is provided to children in care and is with Options food program. The licensee was advised that if food is brought from the children’s homes, all containers must be labeled with the child’s name and properly stored or refrigerated. The facility has a working telephone, ventilation, and heating.
Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which could pose a danger to children were observed to be inaccessible to children. The facility representative states that there are no poisons in the home and understands that storage areas for poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. Per facility representative, there are no firearms, weapons or bodies of water in the home.
According to the facility representative, children use the back yard for outdoor play. LPA observed the backyard is completely fenced, has adequate shade and age-appropriate play equipment. Areas around and/or under climbing equipment have cushioning material to absorb a fall. LPA did not observe any objects that could be hazardous to children in care. The yard has turf and well maintained. The detached garage is located in the backyard and was observed to be locked and inaccessible. LPA also observed a locked laundry room. LPA advised the licensee to check with the American Standard Testing Materials for Playground Guidelines and/or to use the manufactures recommendations for the playground equipment in efforts to be more in line with safety guidelines. Licensee understands that children should be supervised at all times.
