Licensing Program Analysts, Seung Lee and Shushan Safaryan conducted an unannounced annual required site inspection to ensure the health & safety standards as required by regulations governing family child care homes. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Licensee Maria Baches who provided a tour of the home. LPAs observed ten (10) children in care at the time of inspection with 2 assistants. Hours of operation are M-F 7:30AM-6PM.

This is a single story home which consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, and laundry area. There is also a detached garage, which is primarily used as a children's activity area. Licensee was informed that the garage cannot be used for sleeping and or eating purposes. Per Licensee, children in care have access to the living room, backyard, and 1 bathroom. Off limits area include 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and 1 kitchen The home was inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation, and telephone service (land line).

Licensee understands that all individuals must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing or volunteering in a licensed home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which could pose a danger, were determined to be inaccessible to children in care during the inspection.

LPA observed a fully charged 2-A:10-B:C fire extinguisher on the premises and the tag attached indicates that it was last serviced on 10/22/2022. Per State Fire Marshall standards, fire extinguishers shall be serviced annually. The smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were working properly. There are age appropriate toys available for children. Per licensee, there are no weapons, firearms or bodies of water on the premises. Last fire drill was conducted on 07/20/2023 per log.

There are adequate age appropriate toys, books, and games. There are no firearms present on the premises as stated by the assistant. There were no pools or spas, or other bodies of water observed. There is one dog that resides in the off limits part of the home per Licensee.

The following were discussed: Individuals who are 18 years of age or older living in the home must be finger print cleared prior to being in the presence of the children in care. Individuals within one month of their 18th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately. No smoking, No infant walkers, No baby bouncers, No Johnny jumpers, No exersaucers and any other item that falls into that category. LPA discussed disaster drills, posting requirements, children records requirements, mandated child abuse and injury/death reporting. During file review, LPA Lee observed that the two assistants had current CPR, mandated reporter training certificate, and proof of immunization available.LPA reviewed SIDs, Never Shake A Baby, and safe sleeping practices. Infants should sleep mouth up, on their backs, free of clutter surrounding their sleeping space.

Incidental Medical Services are not provided at this time. Licensee was informed to contact the department 30 days prior to enrolling any child with IMS needs. LPA advised licensee to refer to Section 101173 and 101226 for further information on regulatory requirements. There were no deficiencies cited during this inspection.

The notice of site inspection must remain posted for a period of 30 days during business hours. Failure to maintain posting will result in a civil penalty of $100.00 dollars.
