25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Staicy Perry conducted a case management inspection due to an unusual incident that was reported to the Department on 9/3/2024. LPA met with Maria Castillo, Center Manager and Patty Linares, Child Development Specialist. Census was taken and LPA observed 27 children present.
On 9/3/2024 the facility became aware of an epidemic/outbreak of lice. It was found that a total of 3 children were found with head lice. All children who were observed to have head lice, parents were notified and children were picked up by representative / parents. Facility provided parents with educational resource from the County of Los Angeles Public Health Department FAQ on head lice as well as a notice of exposure was posted at the facility. The facility reported the incident to the department within the required time frame. LPA observed parent handbook, which states policy and procedures for head lice outbreaks. LPA obtained declaration from center Manager Maria Castillo and other documents.
Based on the information obtained on this date, no follow-up is necessary regarding the incident. The incident appears to be an unusual accident. It appears to be nothing the facility staff could have done to prevent the incident from occurring.
The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) – must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00.
