garage door closed and inaccessible to children. Other witnesses reported that they have not seen the licensee providing care to children in the garage. LPA reviewed the facilities records and observed that it was unclear as to when the licensee was told to stop using the garage.
Based on the allegation, “licensee did not keep hazardous items inaccessible to day care children, resulting in a child in care ingesting several vitamins,” evidence did not completely support the reporting party’s concerns. LPA interviewed the licensee. Per licensee, the incident occurred after childcare operating hours, with children’s vitamins, and their daughter contacted poison control. Per licensee, Child (C1) and their daughter were visiting after hours when the incident occurred. The Licensee attempted to obtain a record of the call log to prove to LPA that poison control was contacted after day care hours but was unsuccessful. The licensee’s daughter stated that they were present and they contacted poison control. Per daughter, poison control told them that C1 would be okay if there were no iron in the vitamins; and there was no iron in them. Based on the information collected from witnesses, C1 did not go to the hospital, and they did not suffer any adverse reactions from consuming vitamins. No documentation was given to prove or refute that the incident occurred during childcare hours.
Based on the allegation that the “licensee did not prevent a dog in the home from biting day care children,” information gathered through interviews with witnesses did not corroborate the reporting party's concerns. Interviews with the parents and the licensee revealed no reports of dog bites or unsafe interactions. No records or documentation was provided to indicate that a child had been bitten by a dog. Although the dog is around the children, no witness provided information to support the allegation that a child was bitten by a dog.
Based on the allegation, “licensee did not meet day care child's diapering needs,” the information gathered did not corroborate the reporting party’s concerns. LPA observed the licensee demonstrating appropriate diapering logging procedures. Interviews with witnesses did not reveal concerns regarding unmet diapering needs. One parent stated, when I picked [my child] up [they] always [have] a clean diaper…,". At visit, LPA observed the licensee and adult 1 utilizing a diaper changing chart. LPA took a photo of the chart.
