25 | On 06/25/2024 at 9:30 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Crystal Green conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. LPA met with Facility Representative Gabriela Dominguez and Zafira Firdosy. This facility is currently licensed as a preschool program with a capacity of 62 children serving ages 2 to 6 years old in (3) classrooms: Firefly’s, Lady Bugs, and Busy Bees. The Licensee, K-Step Montessori Inc., has requested to increase the preschool capacity by closing the existing school age license (198011042) operating with a capacity of 20 in the Butterfly classroom and adding it to the existing preschool licensed areas for a total new capacity of 82 preschool children that will be operating out of (4) classrooms: Firefly’s, Lady Bugs, Busy Bees, and the Butterflies. There is also an infant program on site license (198011043).
Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 7am to 6 pm. Present during today’s inspection were 42 children with 7 staff. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Gabriela Dominguez that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.
LPA continued to tour the facility and measured new indoor activity space. Total new indoor activity space measured 2,881.93 square footage, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested increase of capacity. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via water fountains located within the Lady Bugs, Busy Bees, and Butterflies. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 5/30/2024. LPA observed a total of 8 sinks and 8 toilets available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 82 children. |
