32 | LPA observed the following required postings in the entry way of the facility: License, LIC 9148 Earthquake Preparedness Checklist, LIC 610A Emergency Disaster Plan, Pub 394 Notification of Parents Rights, and LIC 999 Facility sketch.
LPA inspected the facility for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation and working phone (cell phone and landline). For ventilation, LPA observed central air and AC units. Licensee stated there are surveillance camera in the main care and outdoor areas. At 9:30 a.m., Licensee began the tour starting with the side of the house where outdoor entrance gate of the facility where parents and children enter, there is a separate door and steps where parents then ring an open-cup bell for staff to open the door. LPA entered the entrance of the home which leads to the living room and observed children’s furniture (TV, child-size sofa, tables/chairs), manipulatives, books, soft plush toys, puzzles, art materials and other age-appropriate materials that were well maintained and free of loose, sharp, and pointed parts. The entrance has a cubby for children to store their personal belongings and a closet where Licensee stores more children supplies and documents. Next to the living room is the dining area which connects to the kitchen (child-safety gate in place). The dining area has high-chairs for infants to eat on.
At 9:55 a.m., LPA inspected the kitchen area (child-safety gate) and licensee stated that children only have access when entering the care spaces in the home. LPA observed cleaning compound items, stored underneath the kitchen sink with childproof lock in place, making it inaccessible for children to open. Also observed was a laundry room and more cleaning supplies with sliding door lock in place, making that area inaccessible. LPA observed the knives and sharp objects stored inside a drawer with child safety lock in place. Licensee stated the facility provides breakfast, lunch, AM/PM snack, and dinner and utilize a food program. LPA informed licensee any food brought from the children's homes, the container shall be labeled with the child's name and properly stored or refrigerated. Licensee stated that there are no children with severe food allergies nor on medication.
At 10:15 a.m,, LPA entered the bathroom adjacent to the laundry room and napping room (BD1) and observed a working toilet, working sink with hand soap. The drawers and sink have child safety locks in place to make them inaccessible. LPA reminded licensee and personal items (ex; shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, or items that fall into that category) must be made inaccessible to children. At 10:30 a.m., the napping room was observed with cots and infant cribs, each with individual tight-fitted sheets (washed every Friday) and are free of hazards; more age-appropriate toys were observed LPA consulted with licensee regarding safe-sleep regulations and reminded the infant cribs shall not have any items inside or around infant while napping.
