25 | On September 19, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Monique Ayala conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection at the above facility. A COVID-19 risk assessment was conducted prior to entering the facility. Upon arrival LPA Ayala was greeted by licensee, Martina Aguilar who guided LPA on a tour of the faiclity. LPA observed 6 children in care. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7AM to 5PM. Inspection was conducted in Spanish.
Upon arrival LPA observed three men on the roof of the facility who are doing construction (roof replacement). Per licensee, the construction started this week. Per licensee the children use a bathroom that was previously off limits. During the time of construction, the construction workers use the half bathroom that was designated for children to ensure the construction workers and children do not use the same bathroom. Per licensee, the children are taken to the bathroom by the licensee or her assistant to ensure that the children are not alone. Per licensee the children are not playing in the rear yard as there is construction on the roof. Licensee stated, that the construction workers take their lunch during the children's nap time. Throughout the inspection there was constant banging on the roof that may cause children to feel uncomfortable. LPA informed the licensee that whenever there is going to be any construction/modifications to the facility the department needs to be notified. This poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.
This is a single-story house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathroom, detached garage that remains locked at all times, laundry area with chemicals and cleaning compounds inaccessible to children in care, living room, family room (located in rear part of the home), dining room, kitchen, front yard and completely fenced rear yard. The day care takes place in family room, hallway bathroom, kitchen, and rear yard. The home is clean, orderly, comfortable, and well ventilated.
