On 10/6/2021 at , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Thelma Razo conducted an unannounced Required - 1 year inspection. LPA introduced self and met with staff Stephanie Garcia and stated the purpose of the visit. LPA provided Ms. Garcia with a copy of the LIC 125 Entrance Checklist to facilitate the inspection. This is a preschool program which consists of 6 classrooms namely Dolphins, Seahorses, Giraffes, Tigers, Pelicans, Turtles. Hours of operation is from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

LPA was guided to a facility tour by Ms Garcia at 2:40PM. All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. The following staff were present during this inspection (Ms. Garcia identified who are the teachers and aides):
  • Dolphins: 2 teachers/1 aide with 14 children.
  • Seahorses: 1 teacher and 2 aides with 13 children.
  • Giraffes: 1 teacher and 1 aide with 7 children.
  • Tigers: 2 teachers and 1 aide with 8 children.
  • Pelicans: 1 teacher and 2 aides with 9 children.
  • Turtles: 2 teachers with 8 children.
The facility was observed to be within the license capacity and limitations.

Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair, telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. All floors were observed to be clean and safe. All materials accessible to children were observed to be toxic free. Per Ms. Garcia, there were no firearms stored on the premises and no pools or bodies of water. Children have their own cubby to store their belongings. Children bring their own blankets and have them sent home on Fridays. Facility provides linens and being washed weekly or as needed. Per Ms. Garcia, the isolation area is located in the office. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair in all restrooms. General sanitation was observed. Availability of indoor drinking water was observed in the classroom.

Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to children were inaccessible. Director states that there are no poisons stored at the facility. There's carbon monoxide detectors were available All kitchen areas/food preparation areas and food storage areas are kept clean and are free of litter, rubbish, rodents, and/or any other vermin.

All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. Children were provided with breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. Menu was observed to be posted one week in advance.

Outdoor playground equipment is in a safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. The outdoor surface is cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard. Availability of outdoor drinking water was observed. LPA advised that no children shall be left without the supervision of a teacher at any time.

This facility offers Incidental Medical Services – IMS plan has been submitted. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. Due to time constraints, LPA will return to complete the inspection. There were no deficiencies cited during today’s inspection.

A Notice of Site visit was posted and must remain for 30 days.
