It was determined through interviews with staff that the younger child had fallen asleep in the back of the bus and staff did not do their safety sweep of the bus, so the child was left inside the bus alone while the other children went inside the school to their classroom. RP and staff stated it is unknown how long the child was left in the vehicle. Per interviews and documents the child could have been left in the bus for about 30 minutes the earliest time to an hour the longest.
Per interviews with staff, children, and the police, it was determined that the child was left on the facility bus, during a hot day alone for a period of time. Per Interviews with staff #1, #2 and #3, all three admitted that they did lie to the police and to the licensing department regrading the actual story of what happened regarding the child being left on the bus and the staff not doing the normal safety sweep of the van to ensure no one or nothing was left behind.
