32 | Parent's make note of the children's temperature as preschool staff take the child's temperature. Parent's have to wait outside for their turn to sign their child in to the preschool. This is against the Parent's Right to come into the facility to observe the child's classroom and the areas the children have access to. Parent's should be allowed to enter the preschool as long as they follow COVID protocols set-up by the director, such as wearing face masks, bringing their own writing instrument (pen or pencil) to log child's temperature and having their temperature taken before dropping child off in classroom.
Upon speaking to the licensee over the phone, Mr. Hissanka Gunasekara stated that the Department of Health commended him for taking the safety precautions to keep children safe of not letting the parent's into the facility. Licensing staff explained to licensee that he could keep the protocols he had in place, but parent's needed to be allowed to enter the facility to drop-off their children, since it is part of their parent's rights. Licensing staff also explained the regulations regarding Personal Rights and Parent's Rights did not change with the pandemic.
