25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Seung Lee conducted an unannounced required lInspection. LPA met with Christian San-Cobb, Site supervisor, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. During the inspection there were 39 children present in four classrooms (Butterfly1, Dolphin1, Butterfly2 and Dolphin2 classrooms).
Children are brought in through a side gate in front of the facility by parents. Sign in sheets were observed outside in front each door for the respective classrooms. Students have access to the classrooms, restrooms (in each classroom), library and outdoor play area. The facility does not provide transportation, children are dropped off and picked up by their parents. Furniture and equipment are safe and in good repair. There is telephone service in each classroom, heating, lighting and ventilation available at the facility. The break room in the lobby has been designated as the isolation room and the teachers restroom has been designated for use of ill children. The children take naps on top of mats provided by the facility and blankets brought from home. There is a washer and dryer within the facility so laundry for napping materials is done by the facility staff.
Drinking water is available indoors and outdoors. The facility refills children's personal water bottles with a water dispenser or a sink with a filter. Restrooms used were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation.
The kitchen is inaccessible to children and behind a closed door. The children do eat morning and afternoon snacks which are brought from home by the children's parents. Lunch can either be brought by parents or purchased by fresh lunches who delivers food to the facility everyday. Snack menus were posted in the kitchen. Snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care. Poisons are in a cabinet (under the kitchen sink). Cleaning compounds and sharp items are inaccessible. Containers used to discard food have tight fitting lids at this time. |
