25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) R. Derraco conducted an unannounced annual inspection to the above facility on 02/20/25. LPA arrived at the facility at 12:15 PM and met with licensee, Nishala Jayawardene, who guided analyst on a tour. Also present during this inspection was an assistant S1. Per Licensee, there are 12 children that are currently enrolled. There were 11 children present upon arrival.
This is a one-story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen/dining room, living room, den a detached garage, front yard and backyard (fenced). The off limit areas include 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, detached garage, and front yard.
The main care are is located in the den. LPA observed age appropriate toys, wall mounted television, child sized tables and chairs, a play yard, and 4 Graco pack and play playpens. A tension gate was observed at the entrance to the main care area to the kitchen/dining area. Tension gates were also observed in the main care area. Per licensee, isolation area for children showing signs of illness will be located in the middle section of the main care area. The kitchen/dining area was observed with a child sized table and chairs. Per licensee, children take meals in the kitchen/dining area and are immediately brought to the main care area after their meal. Licensee states that she provides food for children in care. LPA advised licensee that children who bring food must have separate containers that are labeled and properly stored or refrigerated. Objects that are sharp or have pointy parts were observed to be inaccessible in a cabinet above the kitchen counter. Cleaning supplies were observed to be locked beneath the kitchen sink. The living room was observed with a couch, coffee table and a fire place. LPA observed that the fire place does not have a cover with a lock. LPA advised licensee that a Type B citation will be issued under California Code of Regulation (CCR) section 102417(g)(1). The bathroom was observed to have an operable sink faucet and toilet. The outdoor play area was observed to have additional age appropriate toys, dramatic play sets, a wooden cubby locker for personal belongs, outdoor play equipment and child sized climbing structures.
