This was an announced case management inspection conducted by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Crystal Green. COVID- 19 precautionary measures were taken, individuals present during inspection wore appropriate personal protective equipment. LPA met with Director/Licensee, Michele Masjedi.

Due to the recent storms, On March 1, 2023, Governor Newsom declared a state of emergency in 13 counties, including Los Angeles County. The Licensee has reported to the department that the facility suffered roof damage, resulting in extensive interior water damage in the Infant classroom, Infant Room kitchen, and adjourning crib room. The Licensee has requested to temporarily relocate the Infant classroom to the Toddler Option classroom while the facility is undergoing construction repairs. Per Licensee, the work to repair the damages began Saturday, March 4, 2023, and is expected to last about 2 to 3 weeks.

The purpose of this visit is to inspect the Wobbler and the Toddler Option classroom for temporary use by Infants for activities and napping while repairs are underway. At approximately 3:30 PM, LPA was guided through a tour of the facility which included the temporary off-limit Infant areas. The facility was observed to be currently operating. LPA observed 4 infant children in the Wobbler classroom with 2 staff members and 9 toddler children in the outdoor play area with 4 staff members. LPA observed the entire infant side to be sealed off during the repair process. Per Licensee, staff and children will not have access to the Infant Classroom, Crib Room, Kitchen, or Bathroom for approximately 2-3 weeks. The repair company will use the Infant Room back door only during hours the facility is not operationg, so there will be no entry or interaction with children or staff. The License has requested an emergency waiver to use the Wobbler Room for the Infants and share the space for activities and cribs and for the Wobbler Classroom to combine with the Toddler Room classroom.
