Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were observed to be inaccessible. Per FR, medication is only administered to a child when accompanied with a doctor's note and is stored in the child's classroom inaccessible to children with the child’s name and date. Administrator understands that storage areas for poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted at least one week in advance and visible to an authorized representative. The facility provides, breakfast, lunch, supper and two snacks. Per FR, meals are delivered from a vendor. The facility maintains extra snacks on site in case of emergencies. All kitchen areas/food preparation areas and food storage areas are kept clean and are free of litter, rubbish, rodents, and/or any other vermin. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. All foods/beverages are stored in covered containers at 45˚ (F) or less.
LPAs observed each component has its own separate outdoor space. Each space is fully enclosed. Outdoor play equipment was observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Outdoor activity space surface is maintained in a safe condition as is free of hazards. Areas around and/or under climbing equipment, swings and slides have cushioning material to absorb a fall. The outdoor area has adequate shade. The Administrator states that there are no bodies of water on the premises and LPA did not observe any bodies of water during this visit.
LPAs observed 1 toilet and two sink in the preschool classroom and two toilets, two sinks and one diaper changing table in the toddler classroom. FR stated that the restrooms are used by all children from both components if needed. This is a potential risk to children in care. LPAs reminded FR that the toddler component shall be conducted in areas physically separate from those of older children. This is a potential risk to children in care.
Children’s records were reviewed for Admission Agreement, LIC 700- Identification and Emergency Information, LIC 627- Consent for Medical Treatment, LIC 995A Notification of Parents’ Rights, LIC 613-Personal Rights, LIC 702-Health History, and LIC 701 Physicians Report, and Immunization. Files reviewed were of children in the toddler program. LPAs did not observe written permission from the children's authorized representatives to be enrolled in this component.
