32 | temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. LPAs observed two bathrooms available in each classroom that each have one toilet and one sink, totaling two toilets and two sinks, with a third sink available outside of the bathroom.
Snack/lunch menus were reviewed and observed posted at time of inspection. All meals and snacks are provided by the Long Beach Unified School District. Per S1, staff picks up lunch from cafeteria. AM Program is provided Breakfast, PM Program is provided Lunch, and Full Day Program is provided Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids.
A first aid kit is kept in each classroom and was inventoried for necessary supplies. At 11:38 AM Carbon monoxide detectors were tested and observed operable. LPAs observed smoke detectors observed present in the facility and fire extinguishers have been serviced. LPAs observed disaster drill log available, last drill conducted on 01/25/2023. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were inaccessible to children. S1 states that there are no poisons stored at the facility. At 11:29 AM, LPAs observed medicine that is stored in RM 105 for C1 to have required documents and to be stored per Title 22 Regulation requirements. S1 states that sick/isolation area is in school's Nurse's Office.
Beginning at 11:33 AM, outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age-appropriateness. Required shade and fencing were inspected. LPAs observed shaded area available for children under walkway and a multi-level play structure with slide that has cushioning material to absorb fall that is well maintained. LPAs observed bicycles, plastic kitchen, and other toys available for children to use outside that is well maintained. LPAs advised that the children need to be within the direct care and supervision, including visual supervision of the teacher(s) at all times. Per S1, the children have access to a water cooler during outside play. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water; no bodies of water or hazards observed.
Teacher-child ratios were observed and staff names recorded. Care and supervision was evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children are met and appropriate. Sign-in and out sheets and procedures were reviewed. LPAs observed all children present signed in and all children from AM Program signed in and out at time of inspection. Personal Rights of children were observed by LPA.
