On Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 2:20 p.m, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mayra Rivera conducted an annual inspection and capacity increase for large license inspection and met with Licensee Ana Nuno Vargas who guided LPA Rivera on a tour of the facility.

During the inspection, three infants and one preschooler were present. LPA observed two infants sleeping in cribs and preschooler in a mat and the other awake infant in a boppy with the assistant. The current children’s roster posted on the bulletin board with 4 children listed. Family members residing in the home are cleared and been discussed with licensee. Operating hours are Monday to Sunday, 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. and care for children ages 0 to 12 years. Fire clearance has been granted as of 9/30/22 for 14 children.

This is a one story home which consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom (which connects to both bedrooms), kitchen, living room, front side yard (fenced) and laundry room. Per licensee and facility sketch areas off limits to children and parents include: laundry room. Areas that are accessible to children and identified on the facility sketch include; living room, kitchen, bedrooms and side yard.

At approximately 2:26 p.m., LPA Rivera entered the daycare room area to inspect for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation and working phone (land line). LPA observed a wall heater and with a fireproof cover anchored for heat safety. LPA also observed gas pilot light on. LPA observed a wall AC unit. LPA observed a cubby storage with children personal belongings, two other cubbies with children materials such as art supplies, puzzles, and manipulative. LPA observed the furniture and children materials to be in good condition and age appropriate.

At approximately 2:34 p.m., LPA observed cleaning compounds items stored inside the bottom kitchen sink cabinet with a safety latch in place making it inaccessible for children to open. Knives and sharp objects, LPA observed the items stored inside the kitchen cabinet with child proof lock making it inaccessible for children to open. For drinking water, LPA observed water dispensers and disposable cups. Licensee is currently enrolled with California Adult Child Care Food Program. Currently the facility does not have any children with food allergies

At 2:39 p.m., LPA Rivera entered the restroom and observed toilet, running water, hand soap and paper towels. LPA observed the bottom cabinets closed and with a child proof lock in place make it inaccessible for children to open. LPA did not observe any hazards and observed the restroom a to be in good condition.

LPA Rivera asked if there are any pets, poisons, firearms, weapons or bodies of water. Licensee stated she has no pets, no body of waters, no firearms, no weapons or poisons. LPA did not observe, pets, firearms, weapons, poisons nor bodies of water. Licensee was advised that if any poisons (ex; drano, rat poison or items with skull hazard symbol), firearms and weapons are purchased, it is required to be locked with a key or combination lock and firearm and ammunition must be stored separately.



At 2:44 p.m LPA Rivera observed the required 2A10BC fire extinguisher located in the kitchen and the valve on the green area indicating fully charged and serviced on 7/6/22. LPA observed carbon monoxide detector and smoke alarm located in the living room and both detectors were tested. LPA Rivera heard the sound. The smoke and carbon detectors are operable. LPA observed the first Aid complete with band aids, gauzes, adhesive bandages and antiseptic wipes and located in the restroom. LPA observed the drill/earthquake log and last drill conducted on 5/2022.

At 2:56 p.m., LPA inspected the outdoor area used by children in care for safety, comfort and cleanliness, LPA observed the side yard to be fenced all around and the sliding gate closed. The porch provides shade and LPA observed a playhouse, trike bikes, small basketball hoop and a cubby with toys. LPA observed play equipment to be in good condition and age appropriate.

LPA observed licensee pediatric First Aid/CPR certification dated 8/14/22, Health and Safety (8 hours) dated 10/23/22. LPA Licensee has proof of immunization against pertussis, measles and influenza. Licensee has completed the mandated reporter (AB 1207) dated 7/7/21. Licensee was advised that the mandated reporter training must be completed every 2 years, and is available at www.mandatedreporterca.com

At approximately 3:10 p.m., LPA reviewed child #1 and staff #1 file. LPA observed staff missing AB 1207 Child Abuse Mandated Certificte and child #1 sleep log. LPA informed Licensee staff #1 needs to complete AB 1207 Child Abuse Certification by 11/11/22 and the safe sleep log by 11/4/22. Currently has no children with or on medication.

Safe Sleep: LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee Ana Nuno and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Licensee Ana Nuno of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at also explained to licensee that car seat, stroller are only and only for https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

LPA Rivera also reviewed Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Never Shake A Baby, and Lead Exposure information with licensee. LPA informed car seats are only for transportation, highchair is only and only for feeding and stated items cannot be misused. No smoking, No infant walkers, No Johnny jumpers, No saucer chairs are not permitted in a family child care facility.



Medication: Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Criminal Record Statement: Licensee Ana was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Licensee has been given three technical violations for no having the safe sleep log. Licensee has be advise to complete the sleep log by 12/2/22.

Based on today's inspection, facility can accommodate the requested large license of 14 children. A notice of site visit was given and posted and must remain posted for 30 days.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Licensee Ana Nuno.
