32 | Six (6) out of six (6) staff interviewed stated that children are provided water throughout the day and have access to drinking water at all times. Staff reported that water is offered during meals, snacks, transitions, and outdoor play, and that children are frequently prompted to drink water due to their young age. Staff #1-#6 further stated that the facility provides sippy cups and water, and that children may bring their own cups from home; however, if a child refuses their personal bottle, staff provide water using facility-supplied cups. Staff also reported that water is accessible in infant classrooms through staff-filled cups and in toddler areas via drinking fountains. Staff consistently denied withholding water from any child.
The Director reported that children are provided with regular access to drinking water throughout the day and that staff ensure water is available in all classrooms and outdoor areas as part of daily care routines. When children go outside for playtime, the water fountain door is left open so they can access water as needed. In addition, the Director conducts daily classroom rounds and communicates with staff to ensure children are being offered water during breakfast, snack, lunch, and at various times throughout the day.
Parents interviewed stated that they do not have any concerns regarding the facility or staff and reported satisfaction with the care provided. No parents expressed concerns regarding children being denied access to drinking water.
During the facility inspection, LPA observed sippy cups readily available for children in each classroom and confirmed that the facility provides water. LPA also observed an accessible drinking fountain in the outdoor play area, which was functioning properly. Photographs were taken.
Based on interviews conducted, documentation reviewed, and LPA’s direct observations, there was no indication or evidence to support the allegation that staff do not allow daycare children access to drinking water. Based upon the evidence as presented above, the allegation has been determined to be UNSUBSTANTIATED. A finding of Unsubstantiated means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove alleged violation(s) did or did not occur, therefore at this time the above allegation is unsubstantiated.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Kobi Gonzalez.
