Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Susann Sanchez and Joshua Ortega conducted an unannounced complaint inspection. LPAs met with Lead Teacher, Nicole Cervantes and informed her of the reason for the visit. LPAs did not observe any children. Facility is currently closed as staff prepares for the new school year that starts 09/03/24. Director Blanca Aponte arrived at 10:04am.

During the investigation, LPAs conducted interviews with staff, children, and parents regarding the allegations listed above. No eyewitnesses were identified. Parent and staff interviewed did not corroborate with the allegations above. Everyone interviewed stated that they have never heard or witness staff hitting children. Staff stated that they use the redirection method as the facility’s discipline policy. Children also confirm that staff talk to them and help them relax when they misbehave. Two children interviewed stated that sometimes when they misbehave, they do go to the office to relax but not to nap.

Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is unsubstantiated. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and a copy of the report and appeal rights were provided to the Director Blanca Aponte.
