25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required - 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Assistant S. Hernandez and who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Upon arrival, LPA observed Assistant Hernandez and other cleared assistant providing care for four preschool children. Licensee Jolandra Navarre arrived approximately 45 minutes later with three school age children (total 7). Per Licensee there are 14 children enrolled attending at various times. Individuals residing in the home were noted. The children's roster is current.
At Approximately 1:40pm LPA conducted an inspection of all areas of the facility sketch. This is a one story home which consists of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining area, front yard, attic living space and small inaccessible patio. The applicant uses the living room, dining area, kitchen, two bedroom (activity rooms), bathroom and front yard for care. The wall heater is turned off does not work at this time and is not in use.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Licensee has one small dog at this time. LPA advised Licensee to provide extra care and supervision if animals commingle with children as animals may be unpredictable. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. LPA reminded Licensee to provide 100% care and supervision for outdoor play. Licensee was also reminded to ensure that all medicines, chemicals, cleaners, paints, sharp objects, grills, propane, and similar hazardous items must be inaccessible at all times. Poisons must also be locked with a key or combination lock.
Fire arms and pool regulations were discussed. Per Licensee there are no bodies of water and LPA did not observe any on the premises. The License, Parents Rights Poster, and Earthquake Preparedness was posted. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and is due for service June 2024. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors living room were tested and are operable. |
