32 | LPA observed all children have their own cubby. All toilets and hand washing facilities are safe and are operating properly. LPA observed the children's bathroom not tidy. At this time, the "library" is used as an isolation area. A cot is available for an ill child to rest on. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were inaccessible to children. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects, and rodents.
LPA observed LIC 610, LIC 9148 and Emergency disaster drill posted in the kitchen of the facility. The facility does not have a parent board. LPA observed a current Emergency disaster drill. Last drill conducted on 05/02/24.Snack menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted at least one week in advance and visible to an authorized representative. Snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity, and appropriateness to children in care. Facility provides AM/PM snack and lunch. All food is protected from contamination. Director states there are no weapons, firearms, or bodies of water on the premises.
First Aid supplies are available in kitchen and outdoors. LPA observed a functioning carbon monoxide detector. LPA also observed a fire extinguisher in the kitchen indicating fully charged and last service date 09/08/23.
At approximately 09:35 a.m., LPA took a tour of the outdoor play yard. According to the director, this facility is mainly outdoors. Children eat, play, and explore in the play yard. LPA inspected the outdoor play equipment for any lose or pointed parts. Outdoor areas around and/or under climbing equipment have cushioning material to absorb a fall. The facility has 2 areas with sand, 1 being a sand box. There is adequate shade in the play yard. LPA observed several spider webs throughout the play yard. According to the director, every three months there is an eco-friendly pest control company that comes to the facility and takes care of all spider webs and ants. Also, the cook maintains the play yard. Director provided LPA with a copy of proof of service for the pest control. LPA also observed a playhouse and table that had wood chipping throughout. There was also a chair that according to the director it was missing a cover.
