32 | This is a single-story home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry area back yard, ADU, and front yard.
Parents/Children enter through the front door. The day care takes place in living room, bedroom #1 and #2, dining room/kitchen, hallway bathroom and fenced in front yard. The home is clean, orderly, comfortable, and well ventilated.
• Day care areas: living room, dining room, bedrooms #1 and #2, bathroom #1, and front yard
• Off limit areas: bedroom #3, backyard and ADU
LPA observed that there is a baby gate to make the kitchen and hallway off-limits. Licensee states the door to the off limits’ bedroom is kept locked during day care hours, however it was unlocked during this visit.
LPA informed Licensee that off limit areas must be made inaccessible during operating hours.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety and comfort of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home.
The living room is used as the main day care area. LPA observed age-appropriate toys such as blocks, books, art supplies, dramatic play materials, and sensory toys all free of loose and sharp parts.
Bedroom #1 is used for napping infants and is equipped with 2 play pens; older children nap on mats in the living room. Licensee states mats and play pens are wiped down after each use.
LPA observed Lysol cleaning wipes, and other cleaning items, which can pose a danger to children, in the cabinet under the sink in the children’s restroom, accessible to children in care. Licensee states that she didn’t realize the latch was broken. This poses a potential risk to children in care. Licensee states children are escorted to the restroom by herself or assistants, and the cabinet is usually latched. LPA recommended moving cleaning items to another area where they will be inaccessible to children in care or replacing the latch on the cabinet. Licensee states she will order a latch and have it replaced. Licensee moved the entire storage cabinet to off-limits bedroom #3 and states she will move it back to the bathroom when the latch is replaced.
