32 | 10:30AM to 11AM and from 5:45PM to 6PM. The Licensee’s sister uses the backyard from 11:15AM to 12PM and from 4:30PM to 5:15PM. The Licensee acknowledged and understands that children from the two facilities are not permitted to commingle at any time. The LPA observed a written declaration on file regarding the children’s staggered outdoor play schedule.
According to the Licensee, parents drop off and pick up their children at the main entrance, which leads to the living room. Areas accessible to children include the living room, bedrooms 1 and 2, bathroom 1, the kitchen, and the back yard. Children access the backyard for outdoor play through the exit door located in the kitchen. The home has a fireplace that is screened with a metal gate and further barricaded with a children’s activity chalkboard. According to the Licensee, the following areas are designated as off-limits to children: Bedroom 3, the front yard, and the separate dwelling unit/family child care home located at the rear of the property. These areas are made inaccessible through the use of child safety gates and childproof door knobs and locks.
All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. The home is equipped with a central air conditioning and heating system. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. LPA observed age appropriate toys, free of loose and sharp parts. LPA observed electrical cover outlets all through the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. The Licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The Licensee understands that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock. The Licensee was advised that inaccessibility of hazards must be constantly reassessed depending on the children in care. Per Licensee, isolation area for sick children is in bedroom 1. Licensee provides breakfast, AM snack, lunch, and dinner to children. Food preparation areas were toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment.
LPA observed the back yard has artificial grass and adequate perimeter fencing throughout the yard. The LPA advised the Licensee that it is best practice to ensure outdoor supervision is provided at all times. The LPA observed age appropriate toys free of loose and sharp parts available for the children in the back yard and all trees, shrubs, and plants are maintained. Per licensee, there are no pets and LPA did not observe any pets at the time of visit. The facility is equipped with surveillance cameras located in the living room and outdoor play area. Per Licensee, there are no weapons, firearms in the home and there are no bodies of water around the premises.
