LPA Seung Lee conducted an unannounced required inspection. Upon arrival LPA Lee met with Licensees Hana Tan and Angel Lee. LPA Lee observed 2 children in care with both licensees. The following was observed

All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected. This is an apartment on the top floor of the apartment building. The home consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 restrooms, kitchen, living room/dining room. There is a pool located outdoors that is available to all the tenants of the apartment complex. However the Licensees stated that they have never taken the children outdoors and used the community pool when providing care for children.

The home was inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. Per applicant there are no weapons or firearms in the home. None were observed.

Accessible to daycare children: 1 bedroom, 1 restroom, living/dining room.
Off limits/inaccessible to daycare children: 1 bedroom with bathroom (under lock and key), the kitchen, .

LPA inspected the areas to be used by the daycare children. One bedroom will be used for napping and activities. The children’s restroom was inspected. The cabinets in the restroom had a safety latch. There were toys and games for children to use. The kitchen was inspected and observed to be off limits via a safety gate. Knives, medications, and other hazards are kept in a cabinet out of reach of children.

There is a fire extinguisher outside of the applicant's apartment door which was serviced July 14 2023. LPA recommended applicant maintain a personal fire extinguisher, as the extinguisher outside of her home is managed by the apartment building personnel. There are first aid supplies in the kitchen cabinet. The smoke/carbon monoxide detector in the hallway was tested and operational. CPR for Licensees expire on 01/2024 and 10/2024 per CPR cards observed. Children files were reviewed during the inspection.

The following were discussed: Individuals who are 18 years of age or older living in the home must be finger print cleared prior to being in the presence of the children in care. Individuals within one month of their 18th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately. No smoking, No infant walkers, No baby bouncers, No Johnny jumpers, No exersaucers and any other item that falls into that category. LPA discussed disaster drills, posting requirements, children records requirements, mandated child abuse and injury/death reporting. Infant safe sleep practices were discussed with the Licensees.

· Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. No deficiencies were cited during this inspection

The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213)must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00.
