25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lilli Babcock conducted a Case Management-Deficiencies visit on 12/12/24 to address deficiencies revealed during a complaint investigation. A COVID risk assessment was conducted. LPA met with Director, Michelle Benitez to whom the reason for the visit was explained. LPA observed no school-age children present at the facility during this inspection. LPA did observe 8 children Director stated were from the Private School program, in the outside back patio area of the School-Age Classroom, which the facility calls the Butterfly Classroom.
On 10/22/24, 10/24/24, 10/28/24, and 12/5/24, LPA Babcock visited the facility to conduct complaint investigation visits. Interviews with staff and school-age children which were conducted during the complaint investigations revealed children from the School-Age Licensed classroom (Butterfly) have commingled with other age groups and gone to the Preschool licensed classroom (Twigs and Branches) or the Private School (Caterpillar) Classroom for care at the end of the day on multiple occasions in order to maintain ratio.The Private School (Caterpillar) classroom is not licensed by California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Child Care Licensing.
During interviews conducted, Child #1, Child #2, Child #3, Child #4, Child #5, Child #7, Staff #1, and Staff #5 stated that children from the School-Age Licensed classroom have commingled with other classes and gone to the Preschool licensed classroom or the Private School (Caterpillar) Classroom for care at the end of the day on multiple occasions in order to maintain ratio. Child #1 stated, "when we are here we are outside and then we split up and go to inside classes. That means one of us goes to Twigs and Branches class and some go to Caterpillar class". Child #2 stated, "Sometimes we come in
