25 | At 8:45 am Licensing Program Analysts (LPA’s) Roxana Lopez and Lili Babcock conducted an unannounced case management licensee initiated inspection to the above facility on 10/15/2021. A risk assessment was conducted upon entry- appropriate PPE was used. LPA met with Margaret Soto, Licensee, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. The purpose of this inspection is due to licensee’s request for a capacity increase on 8/17/2021. Currently, the licensee’s capacity is eight. Licensee wishes to increase to a capacity of fourteen. Per Licensee, family members residing in the home are 2 adults and 1 child. Per licensee, operation hours will be Monday to Friday 6:00AM to 8:00PM. There were 4 infant children present upon arrival. Also present during inspection was Licensee’s husband. A current children’s roster was available for review.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected, including but not limited to, off limit areas. This is a one-story home which consists of 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, dining room, 2 living rooms, laundry room, front yard and backyard (fenced). The home is split in half indoors.
Per Licensee, main care areas include the front portion of the house which consist of a living room, 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom, laundry room, kitchen and left side of back yard fenced. Kitchen area has a baby gate making it inaccessible for children in care. Areas that will be used by children were inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service via house phone and cell phone is available, ventilation in form of AC was observed. LPA did not observed a fireplace or wall heater . Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, sharp objects and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in areas designated for children. The Licensee states that there are no poisons at the facility. The Licensee was advised that any poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. The valve on the 2A10BC fire extinguisher indicates charged, however Per Licensee, she has it since first Licensed on 1/2020. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. Fire/disaster drill log was also current, last drill conducted on 09/17/2021.
