On 11/12/2024 at 9:45 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Crystal Green conducted an announced Case Management inspection for an increase in the licensed capacity. LPA met with Licensee Representative Christine Jennings. This facility is currently licensed as a preschool program with a capacity of (24) children serving ages 2 to 5 years old in (1) classroom called Fairy Tale (Room 5). There is an Infant license #198020505 that operates at this same address. The Licensee, KA of Pasadena, has requested to increase their overall licensed capacity to (30) children by adding (1) additional classroom: Activity Room.

The hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Present during today’s inspection were 8 children with 1 staff. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA Green informed Christine Jennings that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.

LPA continued to tour the facility and measured the new indoor activity space. The total new indoor activity space measured is 1,083.66 square footage, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity increase. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via each child’s personal water bottle. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 10/25/2024.

LPA observed a total of 2 sinks and 2 toilets that will be available for children’s use located within the Fairy Tale classroom. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested overall capacity of children.

The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Fencing is made of wrought iron, which was observed to be at least four feet high. LPA did not obtain measurements for existing licensed outdoor activity space. This facility has an approved waiver on file for shared use of the outdoor activity space. Shade is provided via a fixed shade structure. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. Drinking water is available via children’s personal water bottles. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. The facility representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.

No corrections are needed. Upon a final file review, a license for 30 children serving ages 2 to 5 in Room 5 and the Activity Room will be granted.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Licensee Representative, Christine Jennings.

A notice of site visit was given to Licensee Representative Christine Jennings, and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
