32 | Outdoor playgrounds have equipment which is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. There are currently 2 playgrounds. One playground is designated for the younger preschool students and the other playground has a play structure that is used for 3 to 5 years of age. The playground located behind Preschool classroom 2 & 3 and near Preschool classroom 4 has toys and bikes along with a bike path. Both playgrounds have awnings for shade and small tables and is surrounded by iron gates at least 6 feet tall, as well as plastic fences at least 5 ½ feet tall for security and privacy. All areas around or under climbing equipment, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with foam material. There is enough play equipment and toys for the children to use in the play yard.
Sign in/out is done on individual sheets and were found to complete using full signatures near the entrance of the classrooms located in the main area. LPA reminded the Director that full signatures should be used for the safety of the children.
LPA reviewed staff records and found that they were complete. Clearance for adults and verification of CPR/First Aid, educational requirements, immunization records, mandated reporting and health preventative practices documentation was reviewed. Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that Identification and Emergency form and a medical assessment are on file. Per Director, she currently has taken the 8-hour Health, Safety, Nutrition and Lead training. Staff person who is responsible for the kitchen duties, currently has a food handler certificate that expires June 2027.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPA observed that lead results were posted for parents to view until the next testing.
Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a
