LPA inspected the facility for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation AC units and central air, and working cell phone. LPA observed At 11:55 a.m, Licensee began the tour starting with the entrance of the door where parents and children enter from which leads to the living room (main day care area). LPA observed the furniture, (TV, children’s tables/chairs), manipulatives, books, soft plush toys, puzzles, art materials, dramatic play toys, and other age-appropriate materials that were well maintained and free of loose, sharp, and pointed parts. Napping equipment in the form of cots were observed each with individual tight-fitted sheets. Licensee states that she washes the linen at her facility every 2 weeks and as soon as soiled. There is camera survelliance in the main care area and outdoor area.
Then, LPA inspected the kitchen and dining area, adjacent to the main care area. All cabinets and drawers were observed to have child safety latches and magnetic child proof locks; stored underneath the kitchen sink were cleaning compounds which also have a child-safety lock in place, making it inaccessible for children to open. LPA observed the knives and sharp objects stored inside a drawer with child-safety magnetic lock. Licensee stated the facility provides AM snack, lunch, and dinner. Licensee stated that children do not bring food from home, and LPA informed licensee that if they do bring any food brought from the children's homes, the container shall be labeled with the child's name and properly stored or refrigerated. Licensee stated that there are no children with severe food allergies nor on medication. There is also a locked laundry room which LPA observed.
LPA entered the licensee’s 1 bedroom (inaccessible) and observed licensee’s personal belongings. Then the bathroom was inspected and observed: a working toilet, working sink with hand soap, and cabinet under the sink with child safety latch. LPA reminded licensee and personal items (ex; shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, or items that fall into that category) must be made inaccessible to children.
Currently, children are using the back yard for outdoor play time which the entrance is through the kitchen’s door; was observed to be fenced around the perimeter and side gates closed with an operable key lock. LPA observed toys, play structure, playhouse, slides and areas with high climbing equipment are cushioned with material that may absorb a fall. All play equipment is age-appropriate and in safe condition (free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts). The surface is covered with artificial grass and there is adequate shading via sails.
