9:30 AM Licensing staff was then guided through the Infant room 1 (0-2 years) and Toddlers orange & purple (18-36 months) class rooms. LPAs observed in both class rooms, toys were observed to be age appropriate clean and safe. Furniture and equipment was inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Napping equipment in the infant room has 5 regular cribs, 3 evacuation, & 3 mats. In the Toddler room LPAs observed 13 cots and all were inspected and observed to be in good condition. Director stated they are ordering 10 more cots. Appropriate storage and cleanliness was observed in both components. The Infants & Toddlers will be provided filtered water and cups/ bottles. AM/PM snack will be provided by the facility and infants/Toddlers will bring their own lunch. Menus were observed on the parent board. Containers used to discard food have tight fitting lids. There is a fully equipped first aid kit available in each room. Individual storage space was observed to be available for each child. Children are provided a blanket by the facility and parents will take home at the end of each week to wash. Facility has extra linen, formula and food available if needed.
Infants have a bathroom located in their class room with 1 toilet (15 infants) & 2 sinks (30 infants). In the Toddler class room there is 1 toilet (15 toddlers) and 3 sinks (45 toddlers), and they are in good condition, water temperature, paper towels, toilet paper, and all were inspected for safety and sanitation. LPAs observed and inspected that the sink in the Infant room has a changing table in arms reach.
Food preparation areas were toured for safety and cleanliness and are located in each class room. Heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Building/Rooms are centrally heated and air conditioned. Overhead lights as well as natural light is used.
The tour continued as the LPAs were guided to the Infant and toddlers outdoor play areas. Both components each have their own play yards with, grass, padding & cement, and are self contained by a gate around it for separation from the other components to prevent children from commingling. Water jugs with disposable cups or labeled bottles will be used for children while outdoors. LPAs observed age appropriate outdoor toys and play equipment to be clean safe and in good repair, as well as adequate shade is available. All areas around play equipment and slides are cushioned with material to absorb a fall. Measurements were taken of the outdoor play yard and the total outside capacity allows for 19 Infants and 23 Toddlers I each of their own yards. LPAs advised the Director that the Infant/toddlers need to be within the direct care and supervision, including visual observation and supervision of the teacher(s) at all times.
