32 | Areas accessible to children include the hallway near the entrance, the living room (main daycare room), the second hallway accessible through the living room, bathroom 1, and the side yard. The living room contains a fireplace that has been made inoperable and barricaded with plywood, rendering it inaccessible to children. According to the Licensee, the following areas are designated as off-limits to children: Bedrooms 1 through 3, bathroom 2, the kitchen, the backyard, and the detached garage. These areas are made inaccessible to children through the use of child safety gates and childproof doorknobs and locks.
All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. The home is equipped with a central air conditioning and heating system. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. LPA observed age appropriate toys, free of loose and sharp parts. LPA observed electrical cover outlets all through the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. The Licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The Licensee understands that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock. The Licensee was advised that inaccessibility of hazards must be constantly reassessed depending on the children in care. Per Licensee, isolation area for sick children is the hallway, near the main door. Licensee provides breakfast, AM snack, lunch, and PM snack to children. Food preparation areas were toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment.
The LPA observed the side yard has artificial grass and adequate perimeter fencing throughout the yard. The LPA advised the Licensee that it is best practice to ensure outdoor supervision is provided at all times. LPA observed age appropriate toys, free of loose or sharp parts, available for the children in the side yard. All trees, shrubs, and plants were observed to be well maintained. Per licensee, there are no pets and LPA did not observe any pets at the time of visit. The home is equipped with surveillance cameras located both inside and outside the home. Per Licensee, there are no weapons, firearms in the home and there are no bodies of water around the premises. The washer and dryer are located inside the kitchen.
The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged (purchase date: 1/20/2026). Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and observed to be in operable condition. Per Licensee, the First Aid kit is kept in the kitchen. The First Aid kit was inventoried for necessary supplies. The Licensee has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles were readily available during today’s inspection. The Mandated Reporter Training for the Licensee is current.
