This inspection was conducted in Spanish.


Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez Garza conducted a case management - licensee initiated inspection at the above facility on 06/28/24 at 10:45 a.m. The home is currently licensed for 8 children and a request for a capacity of 14 children was received. There was 01 child present during this inspection. Operation hours are Monday – Friday 07:30 am to 06:00 pm.

All areas identified in the facility sketch were toured. The LPA observed the facility to be safe and clean. The day care area is provided in the 1st level of the home which consists of the front yard (fenced), playroom (converted garage), kitchen, family room, living room, dining room, ½ bathroom, and the 1st level of the back yard (fenced) located on the 3rd level of the home. LPA observed (2) well mounted gates at the top of the stairs making the second floor inaccessible to children. LPA observed (3) play pens in the living room. Cots are used by older children. Napping equipment meets Title 22 Regulations. Per licensee, food is provided to all children in care. There is a cellphone that stays in the facility during operation hours. There is ventilation and heating.

Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which could pose a danger to children were observed to be inaccessible to children. Per licensee, there are no poisons in the home and understands that storage areas for poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. At 10:58 a.m., smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. The valve on the required 2A10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was serviced on 04/25/24, as indicated on service tag.

The licensee has a first aid kit readily available. Per licensee, there are no firearms or weapons stored in the home. LPA observed the required posted documentation in the living room. LPA reviewed facility records for LIC 9040- Facility Roster and Disaster drill log. The last disaster drill documented was 06/14/24.

Currently children use the back yard for outdoor play with adequate shade and age-appropriate play equipment for children in care. LPA did not observe any objects that could be hazardous to children in care. Licenses understand that children should be supervised at all times. LPA did not observe any pools, spas, hot tubs, fishponds, or similar bodies of water during the inspection.

LPA reviewed licensee’s Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, expires 01/08/25 and current Mandated Reporter Training Certificate. Licensee's Mandated Reporter training expires 12/22/24.

Currently licensee does not have an assistant. LPA informed licensee that upon hiring an assistant, the following is required prior to the assistant being present in the home: fingerprint clearance, LIC 508- Criminal Record Statement, Proof of immunizations against measles, pertussis and influenza or influenza declination, TB clearance or risk assessment, LIC 9108- Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse and current a Mandated Reporter Training Certificate.

The facility has requested an increase of capacity from 8 to 14 on 04/23/24. Fire clearance was granted on 05/28/24. The licensee provided proof of control of property. Capacity Increase will be granted, pending final file review. License will be amended to reflect new capacity of fourteen (14) children. The increase is contingent upon a Licensing Program Manager review and approval.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
