25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez Garza conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection at the above facility on 02/19/25 at 12:45 p.m. LPA met with, Marina Barrios licensee who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. There were 07 children present during this inspection. Also present during the inspection was the licensee’s mother-in-law/assistant. Per licensee, 11 children are enrolled. Operation hours are Monday – Thursday 07:00 a.m. – 05:00 p.m. and Fridays 07:00am-04:00pm.
This is a one-story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, garage, front yard, and backyard (fenced). Areas accessible to children include the living room, 1 bathroom, kitchen, dining room, 1 bedroom, and back yard (fenced) for play. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, front yard, and garage. Licensee placed a well mounted child proof gate between the living room and the hallway leading to the other bedrooms of the home. Per licensee, there are no pets on the premises. Per licensee, family members residing in the home are 2 adults and 2 minors. All individuals present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing, or volunteering in a licensed home and are identified on the attached LIC811.
LPA toured all areas identified on the facility sketch used by children during this visit and were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Tour began in living room where LPA observed age-appropriate toys, equipment, and materials for children. LPA also observed (1) play pen and a 3 in 1 bouncer, rocker, and toddler chair. The 3 in 1 bouncer, rocker, and toddler chair were not being used and was removed by the licensee during inspection. LPA provided consultation. LPA toured the front bedroom which is used by children and observed 5 children napping on cots and (2) play pens. LPA observed all play pens were free from loose articles and objects. There are no objects hanging above or attached to the side of the play pens. LPA observed the play pens do not hinder the entrance or exit to and from the space they are sleeping in. Mattresses were observed to be firm and covered with a fitted sheet that is appropriate to the mattress size. Children use the bathroom next to the front bedroom.
