32 | The children’s restrooms will be located in the main hallway of the facility. LPA observed the children to have access to 2 separate restrooms, each containing two toilets and one sink. All toilets and sinks are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. Drinking water will be available to children via filtered water from an igloo container, which will be located in each classroom. Children will also have their personal drinking containers. There are smoke detectors and fire extinguishers located throughout the premises. The isolation area for an ill child will be located between the Honey and the Champ classroom. The small area is accessible from each classroom; however, if a child becomes ill, this area will be utilized as an ill-isolation room.
This facility will provide AM/PM snacks and Lunch. Food will be prepared at the facility and brought into the classrooms. This facility has a full kitchen located on the premises. LPA observed the kitchen to contain a fridge, stove, and a pantry area. Per the Director, the kitchen door will remain closed during operating hours and inaccessible to the children in care.
Licensing staff was guided through the outdoor activity space. The existing licensee has an approved outdoor waiver on file to allow a staggered play schedule for the outdoor areas. There are two separate Outdoor play areas: Playground A, which is the main playground area located in the front of the facility, and Playground B- a playground area located in the rear of the facility. LPA observed the outdoor area to contain age-appropriate equipment such as a climbing play structure, themed activity, and play toys. LPA observed within the main climbing structure located in Playground A to have material that is eroding and in need of replacement. There is adequate shade provided in the outdoor play area via shade canopies. The facility will not provide transportation to preschool children.
Applicants was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
