32 | There is an in ground pool on the premises which is located in the back of the backyard (off-limit area). Pool is inaccessible. The pool is surrounded with cement walls in two sides, detached garage and guests house in one side, and pool fencing in one side. Per licensee, she keeps the detached guests house door which leads to the backyard locked from inside all the time, also the detached guests house door is closed all the times. The pool is surrounded with 60 inches tall gate and the vertical clearance from the bottom of the gate to the ground is no more than 2 inches, with no gap from the ground to the bottom of the enclosure, no gaps or voids that can allow the passage of a sphere with a diameter equal to or greater than four inches in one side. Also gate swing away from the pool, self-closing with a self-latching, key lockable devise placed no lower than 60 inches above the ground. Per licensee, she keeps the pool gate locked all the times with a key lock. An outside surface is free of protrusions, cavities, or other physical characteristics that would serve as handhold or footholds that could enable a child to climb over. LPA observed an alarm that was placed in the swimming pool, sound upon detecting an entrance into the water. During this inspection, LPA asked the licensee to test the alarm. The alarm was turned on and was in working condition when licensee put her hand in the pool and LPA heard the alarm went off and heard by LPA. The alarm is compliant with ASTM International Standard F2208. A life ring with a minimum exterior of 20 inches and labeled as approved by the United Stated Coast Guard and a rescue pole with a body hook and a minimum fixed length of 12 feet was observed by LPA visible from the swimming pool and readily available for immediate use. The fence meets Title 22 Regulations and AB-2866 Pool Safety Legislative information.
Licensee also completed daily inspection of the drawing prevention safety feature and safety equipment before opening the facility and maintained a log, LPA reviewed and it was current.
LPA also observed a door alarm on the living room door which leads to the backyard, and LPA heard a notification.
All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. At 8:40 am, the licensee began touring LPA’s through the home starting with the entry way which lead directly to the living room. The living room was inspected, and electrical outlets were observed to be covered. There is a fireplace in the living room which has been blocked off to prevent access. LPA observed a sofa, a dining table and chairs in the living room. Next to the living room, the dining room and daycare playarea was inspected, LPA observed chairs, children’s toys, children tables and chairs in the dining room. LPA observed 8 children, two being infants were playing and ate breakfast in the dining room.
