32 | LPA observed the following required postings in the entry way of the facility: License, LIC 9148 Earthquake Preparedness Checklist, LIC 610A Emergency Disaster Plan, Pub 394 Notification of Parents Rights, and LIC 999 Facility sketch.
At 9:20 a.m., LPA inspected the facility for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation and working cell phone. For ventilation, LPA observed AC units and central air. Per licensee, parents enter the home through the main entrance which leads to the living room. LPA observed sofas and a coffee table in the living room. There is a fireplace in the living room which has been blocked off to prevent access to children. Next LPA toured the one bedroom adjacent to the living room and observed a sofa, desk/chair, books, and other age-appropriate materials that were well maintained and free of loose, sharp, and pointed parts. LPA entered the bathroom in the hallway and observed a working toilet, working sink with hand soap. LPA informed licensee and personal items (ex; shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, or items that fall into that category) must be made inaccessible to children. LPA also informed licensee that cleaning wipes like Lysol/Clorox wipes must be made inaccessible to children while in care and advised placing child-safety latches on bathroom cabinets. There are first aid supplies also available in the bathroom. Licensee stated closet in the hallway is inaccessible to children in care and is always closed during operating hours, and LPA advised installing child-safety door knobs to ensure inaccessibility.
LPA toured the dining room and observed a dining table and chair. The kitchen is in an open space from the dining room, which is accessible to children. Next LPA toured the kitchen and observed a child safety latch on the drawer where licensee stores sharp items in the kitchen. Licensee stated the facility provides breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. LPA informed licensee any food brought from the children's homes, the container shall be labeled with the child's name and properly stored or refrigerated. Licensee stated that there are no children with severe food allergies nor on medication. Licensee states she does not administer medication. Next LPA toured the laundry room which is directly from the kitchen and observed detergent were placed on the shelf, out of reach of children. LPA reminded that any cleaning supplies should be made inaccessible to children.
Currently, children are using the back patio for outdoor play time. The patio outdoor play area was observed to be fenced around and has adequate shading. LPA observed a gate (part of the fence) in front of the stairs of back patio which leads to the backyard. LPA observed that the patio has toys and other materials for children to play with along with children’s table and chairs.. The licensee states that supervision is always provided.
