32 | According to the Licensee, parents drop off and pick up their children at the main entrance, which leads to the living room. Areas that are accessible to children are as follows: Living room, family room, bedroom 1, bathroom 1 and the back yard. The family room has a fireplace which has been screened to prevent access by children. Per Licensee, the fireplace will not be used. The back yard has artificial grass with age appropriate toys. Per Licensee, off-limits areas are as follows: Bedrooms 2 and 3, bathroom 2 (which is located in the hallway, between bedrooms 2 and 3), kitchen, front yard and the separate dwelling unit located at the rear of the property (KAPANYAN FAMILY CHILD CARE). The washer and dryer are located inside the kitchen. The off-limits rooms are made inaccessible by child proof door knobs/locks. The kitchen is made inaccessible by a child safety gate.
All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. LPA observed age appropriate toys, free of loose and sharp parts. LPA observed electrical cover outlets all through the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. The Licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The Licensee understands that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock. The Licensee was advised that inaccessibility of hazards must be constantly reassessed depending on the children in care. Per licensee, there are no pets and LPA did not observe any pets at the time of visit. Per Licensee, isolation area for sick children is in the family room. Licensee provides AM snack, lunch, and dinner to children. Food preparation areas were toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment.
The LPA observed the back yard has artificial grass and adequate perimeter fencing through-out the yard. The LPA advised the Licensee that it is best practice to ensure outdoor supervision is provided at all times. LPA observed age appropriate toys free of loose and sharp parts available for the children in the backyard and all trees, shrubs, and plants are maintained. The facility is equipped with video surveillance in the back yard play area only. Per Licensee, there are no weapons, firearms in the home and there are no bodies of water around the premises.
The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged (last serviced on 2/7/26). Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and observed to be operational. Per Licensee, the First Aid kit is kept in the entry closet. The First Aid kit was inventoried for necessary supplies. The Licensee has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles was readily available during today’s inspection. The Mandated Reporter Training for the Licensee is current.
