25 | On 3/25/2024 at 10:20 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Crystal Green conducted an announced Pre-Licensing inspection for a Change of Ownership. Upon arrival, LPA met with Applicant Representative, Jarmila Susan Huber and Elizabeth De Roo. The facility is currently licensed as Sunshine Shack (198013923), with a capacity of 40 preschool children. Applicant, Vereli, LLC, has requested to be licensed for 40 preschoolers ages 2 to 5 years old in classrooms 1, 2, 3, and Library. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed applicant representatives that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. When medications are on site, applicant representatives stated that they will be stored in the Directors office. A fully equipped first aid kit is also located throughout facility. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector on site located within each building. All required licensing documents were observed posted in the main entrance. Children will be signed in and out outside of classroom 1.
LPA continued to tour the facility and measured all indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured 1459.27 square footage, which can accommodate the requested capacity of 40 Children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water will be available to children via filtered water jug with disposable cups and children will also use their personal water bottles. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children.
There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 03/07/2023 by the LA City Fire Department. LPA observed a total of 5 sinks and 4 toilets available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of children. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with a toilet and a sink. |
